![]() Ashley Lesser, P.E., recently received the Ann O. Fletcher Distinguished Service Award at the ESD Gold Award ceremony on March 16. The Ann Fletcher Award is given by the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) annually to honor individuals for their service to the ESD Affiliate Council, an umbrella organization within ESD that encourages cooperation and communication among the various engineering societies active in the metro Detroit area (SWE among them). Ann Fletcher, for whom the award is named, was an early SWE Detroit member and the first woman elected as a Fellow of ESD. She joined SWE Detroit first, within a year of its founding in 1953, and became involved in ESD to help raise SWE's profile in the engineering professions. Ashley Lesser, P.E., has been one of SWE's representatives on the ESD Affiliate Council for many years, and served as the council's Chair from 2014 to 2016. She has been a consistent participant and contributor for many years to ESD initiatives, most recently as a judge for the Michigan Regional Future City Competition and ESD's student scholarships. Ashley is a licensed Professional Engineer currently working for the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. In her role with the Remediation and Redevelopment Division, she manages cleanup of contaminated sites in southern Washtenaw County. Prior to entering State service, she was an environmental consultant for over a decade, assisting clients with due diligence, subsurface investigations, and regulatory compliance. She has been passionate about environmental restoration and sustainable, resilient infrastructure since her undergraduate studies at Princeton. She moved to metro Detroit in 2008 and obtained her master's degree in environmental engineering from Wayne State University in 2011. She enjoys all kinds of culinary adventures and sings alto in a local concert choir, Cantata Academy Chorale. She lives in Huntington Woods with her husband Scott and a pair of rambunctious Tonkinese cats. Congratulations, Ashley! ![]() Congratulations to SWE-Detroit VP of Communications Molli Andor for being inducted into the Michigan Technological University Presidential Council of Alumnae!
