Member Mentor Program
(Inactive, pending volunteer to chair program)
We all have something to learn from fellow women engineers. We all have something we can offer them too. If you are willing to share experiences, insight and knowledge, if you can be open and honest, or if you want to gain personal satisfaction by developing fellow colleagues, you are a good candidate for developing a mentoring relationship.
A peer mentoring relationship is a partnership in which two people share work and life experiences to support and help one another. The goals of the paired employees may range from work to work life balance to SWE. This peer-mentoring program is designed to provide a forum to discuss topics important to each member of the pair, be heard, to increase knowledge through sharing and develop solutions when the situation merits. Peer mentoring is about sharing experiences and developing relationships within the SWE community. Each peer mentoring pair will develop its own goals based on both mentors wants and needs.

ESD Affiliate Council
SWE Detroit is an affiliate member of the Engineering Society of Detroit. Please feel free to visit their website at www.esd.org. Our SWE award members will be recognized at the ESD Gold Awards Banquet.
The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) has been preparing engineers for FE and PE examinations since 1940. A Professional Engineer license shows an engineer’s knowledge and dedication to the profession, and allows an individual to work as an independent consultant. Our track record has led to us becoming a leading figure in exam preparation; engineers prepared though ESD courses have a higher examination success rate.
The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Review Course includes 60 hours of classroom preparation with instruction by experienced professionals and a binder of the instructor’s study notes. The Principles & Practice of Engineering (PE) Review Course brings attendees 28 hours of instruction focusing on problem solving techniques needed for the exam. The courses provide detailed instruction by qualified instructors for specialized fields in civil, electrical, environmental and mechanical engineering.
If are seeking to advance your career, FE/PE Review Courses at ESD give you the best quality preparation for state exams. For information on dates, times and costs, visit www.esd.org or call 248-353-0735.
