SWE Detroit is excited to share that Nikita Tiwari, Girls Engineering Exploration Co-Chair and the Leadership Coaching Committee Coaching Lead, is being recognized with a WE Local New EliTE (Emerging Leader in Technology & Engineering) Award. This award honors women who have demonstrated outstanding technical performance, as well as leadership in SWE and the community, in the first ten (10) years of their career.

Nikita is a Platform Applications Engineer in Intel's Automotive Division providing customer enablement in the area of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS). Her technical expertise spans multiple areas including silicon processor debug, validation, security, virtualization, and artificial intelligence.

Nikita completed her Bachelors in Electronics Engineering and became the first engineer in her family. She later received a Master’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

She is very active leader in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) because of her affinity to promote professional development and inclusiveness for the technical women community.

Nikita enjoys family time, reading, travelling and hiking.

Learn How to Make Situational Leadership Work for You
Situational leadership is the perfect solution for a new manager or a highly seasoned manager. Techniques are based of the book Situational Leadership, which will enable a leader to gain respect, trust and communication almost immediately. 
After attending, participants should be able to walk away with examples of how to implement the theory of situational leadership. This talk takes the guessing out of leadership while demonstrating strategies of how to 'trouble shoot' staff.  It focuses on productivity and well as fostering teamwork. This presentation is great for a new leader or to  breathe new life into an already performing team.
Program Objectives

• Recognize methods to use to identify top and low performers.
• Identify techniques to adjust your leadership style to any team member - intern, junior, mid or senior level.
• Recognize how to build trust and communication which will help in training and retaining staff.

The Society of Women in Engineering (SWE) Detroit Section is sponsoring their annual Girls' Engineering Exploration (GEE) Day on Saturday, March 9, 2019 and needs your help! Sign up volunteer by February 17.
 
This full-day of interactive workshops and demonstrations will be held at the Michigan Science Center and aims to expose 4th-6th grade girls to various fields of engineering and technology.
 
There are two ways you can support:
 
1. Mentor: The girls will be divided into groups of 4-5 to facilitate their engagement as well as maximize their workshop experience. Each GEE Mentor is responsible for monitoring their group throughout the day in addition to encouraging participation and enthusiasm as the girls learn about engineering. Mentors must be available for the full day from 8AM - 4PM.
 
2. Flex volunteer: Flex volunteers support and maintain the GEE event flow throughout the day. They help with registration check-in, coat check, lunch distribution, activity support, room set-up/break-down, and more.  Flex volunteers can choose to be present for any of the three time slots: the full day (8AM - 4PM), morning (8AM - 12PM), or afternoon (12PM - 4PM).
