These events are 60 - 90 minute long virtual sessions with 25 middle school girls each, using little to no physical materials. There will be 4-5 weekend events, and 6 weekday lunchtime events in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Detroit. Follow the link below for more information! Leadership burnout is a problem for many SWE sections, making it difficult for them to reach their goals and serve their membership. In this session we will talk about the signs of leadership burnout, some of its symptoms that might be showing up for SWE-D, and ideas for addressing and managing it. The session will be interactive and include information about the SWE resources that are available on this topic. The symptoms of burnout and ways to manage it are applicable outside of SWE leadership to your professional and personal life.
Speaker BIO: Mary E. Kinsella, PhD, F.SWE, is a career strategist, consultant, and writer, helping women in engineering and science enjoy impactful careers with ease and confidence. She has more than 30 years’ experience with the Air Force Research Laboratory as a project engineer in materials and manufacturing technology. She is a fellow and life member of SWE and has held leadership positions at the local, regional, and national levels. Currently she is a coach on the Leadership Coaching Committee and serves on the Conference Advisory Board representing Women in Government.
